Magnesium seems to help to regulate the body's nerve and muscle tone and has a role in tooth and bone hardness. It may aid the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates as well as the maintenance of healthy blood pressure and as a catalyst in enzyme activity. Cramps and irritability as well as twitching, dizziness and mild depression can be symptoms of a lack of magnesium. It may also assist premenstrual tension, correct PH balance and the uptake of potassium and calcium.
A lack of magnesium may lead to depression and irritability but when balance is restored it may help with physical and mental wellbeing.
